WHO toward a stranglehold on individual freedoms. On April 19 in Rome, the International Conference Perspectives of the World Health Organization: from advisory body to world government? examines the shadows of this intergovernmental organization and pandemic management with authoritative experts from around the world
Next May 27th the World Health Assembly, the highest body of the World Health Organization, will meet to discuss two important documents that may decide on the future of our health: the proposal for a new pandemic treaty and amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR). <The negotiations are still ongoing, and discussions have largely taken place behind closed doors>, explains Eduardo Missoni, a physician and professor of global health at SDA Bocconi, who has been studying and following the work of the WHO since 1987. <The drafts reveal worrying aspects that, if approved, would have serious consequences for national sovereignty, citizens' rights and democracy. We do not need a WHO enslaved to private interests, meddling and "capture of the regulator" mechanisms, which I will explain at the Conference. Health is everyone's good and the debate on these issues cannot allow censorship>.
The management of the Covid-19 pandemic, orchestrated by individual governments with the support of WHO, is considered by many to be a success, to the point of being proposed as a model for the management of future pandemics, real or feared. But did everything happen correctly? In reality, there was no transparency regarding real scientific data and health practices.
During the conference experts from five continents take stock of a scenario that highlights many critical issues and mistakes that should not be repeated. <An exceptional parterre and a unique opportunity to usher a true scientific comparison, supported by evidence> points out Alberto Donzelli, former public health medical director and coordinator of CMSi, the independent medical scientific commission that organizes the conference.
