The IJF launches procurement database to help uncover government waste and corruption
Have you ever wondered how much taxpayer money the Canadian government is spending on contracts with private companies?
What about which firms are getting the biggest chunks of public change?
With 610,000 searchable records, more than 177,000 government tenders and 948,000 awards, the IJF is launching a new Procurement database. It will be updated daily, and subscribers can sign up for real-time alerts when a new award is added.

The IJF launches procurement database to help uncover government waste and corruption

P.S.: This is how we did it.
Through the dataset, we found this Montreal-based company and its subsidiaries received at least $80 million in taxpayer money through more than 460 contracts with the federal government since December 2019.
But get this: those contracts were all signed after the company pleaded guilty to fraud. And what’s more? Experts say this is not even surprising.
This is not the only interesting thing we found using the database. There will be lots more stories to come in the following weeks!
