From $64M motions to vaccine injury fallout and free speech wins, here's what mainstream media isn’t highlighting this summer.
In Canada
Politics:
A motion calling for the company at the forefront of the ArriveCan scandal to reimburse $64 million to taxpayers within 100 days has passed, despite the Liberal government voting against it. The non-binding motion calls for the government to “get taxpayers their money back” from IT consulting firm GC Strategies within 100 days of the motion’s adoption, and for the company and any of its subsidiaries to be barred from contracting with the government for life. A total of 172 Conservative, Bloc Québécois, NDP, and Green MPs voted in favour of the motion, while all 166 Liberals voted against it. Conservative MP Michael Barrett, who sponsored the motion, described it as a chance for the government to “do the right thing” by returning tax dollars to Canadians. “This isn’t just about the $64 million. This is about all the grift, and waste, and corruption, and scandal that we’ve seen over the last 10 years.” Public Services and Procurement Canada determined on June 6 that GC Strategies was ineligible to enter into contracts or property agreements with the federal government for the next seven years. - https://www.theepochtimes.com/world/opposition-parties-pass-motion-calling-on-arrivecan-contractor-to-repay-64m-5874474
Health:
Global New has done an extensive investigation into Canada’s Vaccine Injury Compensation program (VICP) and the results are disturbing. There have been 11,702 reports of serious adverse events following a COVID-19 vaccination, according to Health Canada. The report says PHAC underestimated the number of injury claims VISP would get, initially predicting 40 per year and then up to 400 valid claims annually. More than 3,000 applications have been filed — of those, 1,700 people are still waiting for their claim to be decided. Only 219 claims have been approved. Oxaro Inc. received $50.6 million in taxpayer money to administer the program. $33.7 million has been spent on administrative costs, while injured Canadians received only $16.9 million. The report is remarkably honest about the failures of the VISP. - - https://globalnews.ca/news/11247648/covid-vaccine-injury-program-visp-oxaro-workplace-phac-2/

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, physician MPs on Canada’s Commons health committee proposed this week that all witnesses be compelled to disclose any conflict of interest, a parliamentary first. The 2025 Santa Monica International Film Festival winner - documentary “Follow the Silenced” follows diseased and dying American COVID-19 vaccine-injured patients and their struggle to be heard. The documentary features real people, not actors, with real names, families and occupations, contending with an Orwellian sense of siege during lockdown: masks, sanitizers, social distancing, and entire hospitals doubling as ERs. Abandoned by the health and media establishment, swelling numbers of the vaccine-injured band together on social media to help themselves and get the word out. You can watch Follow the Silenced on the FTS website, PrimeVideo, and YouTube - for free, donations welcome.
In spite of their obligation to properly inform the public about all possible vaccination side effects, which has not been met by most vaccinators over the past five years, the College of Health Care Professionals of BC, has just released their proposed changes to their bylaws according to which the condition of licensing any medical professional in BC will be that he/she "has received all mandatory vaccinations against transmissible illness required by or under an enactment" There is no requirement to disclose all information about vaccines or that the illness for which vaccine must be taken is harmful or severe, just transmissible. Quote from the Head of the US HHS (analogous to Health Canada in Canada),
Robert Kennedy: “In conformance with the pharma-financed mainstream media’s mantric ritual of dutifully parroting the propaganda tropes spoon-fed them by vaccine makers and their captive regulators, @guardian pronounced thimerosal, the ethylmercury-based vaccine preservative, “safe.” Opining under the headline, “CDC vaccine panel to review ingredient RFK Jr has targeted for removal,” The Guardian authoritatively assures: “The preservative has been deemed safe.” Kennedy writes: “The Guardian did not bother to cite any peer-reviewed study. Journalists don’t seem to read those anymore. Instead, it referenced a fact check website operated by the Pharma-funded American Academy of Pediatrics, which likewise cites no peer-reviewed study to support this claim or its equally terse assertion that “Thimerosal has been removed from all routine childhood vaccines.” The Guardian is blind and scientifically baseless repetition of empty industry assurances about thimerosal safety is yet another proof that journalists, and particularly science journalists, have now devolved into obsequious stenographers for Big Pharma.” - Source: https://x.com/SecKennedy/status/1937696602996576528
Quote from Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a top health advisor in the Trump administration in interview with Dr. Campbell: “There’s no reason why this COVID-19 vaccine should not be completely pulled from the market,”, “It’s just a question of time.” Dr. Malhotra hinted that behind closed doors, top officials are now scrambling to distance themselves from what many now view as one of the greatest medical catastrophes in modern history. Legal wins - free speech
In a significant victory for free speech, the Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of Carolyn Burjoski, a former teacher, allowing her to move forward with a defamation lawsuit against the Waterloo Regional District School Board and their former chair, Mr. Scott Piatkowski. This case stems from a school board meeting in January of 2022 where Burjoski raised concerns about the age-appropriateness of certain library books discussing gender transition and sexual identity. Her presentation to the board included examples of books portraying the use of puberty blockers as “simple” or “cool.” Her presentation was abruptly halted by Mr. Piatkowski who claimed her comments violated the Ontario Human Rights Code. Piatkowski later labeled her remarks “transphobic” in media interviews. According to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), Ms. Burjoski then became the centre of an international news story where she was unfairly described as transphobic and discriminatory because of “Piatkowski and [the WRDSB’s] conduct and their false and malicious statements. Burjoski requested a public apology, which was adamantly refused, prompting the initiation of this defamation lawsuit. The School Board and Mr. Piatkowski then filed an anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) motion in a further attempt to silence her. The Ontario Court of Appeal rejected the WRDSB’s attempt to dismiss the case using anti-SLAPP legislation. The court emphasized that Burjoski’s lawsuit focuses on correcting defamatory mischaracterizations, not stifling the board’s support for marginalized groups. - https://x.com/PoliceOnGuard/status/1938594443965190187
A truck seized by Ottawa Police following the trucker’s convoy has finally been returned after 1136 days. The Crown’s application of permanent forfeiture of Norman Blanchfield’s truck was denied by the court. Blanchfield was offered a plea bargain by the Crown. He was told that if he plead guilty he would receive no jail time and his truck would be returned immediately. Blanchfield refused to plead guilty. He stated: “Don’t back up on what you’re doing if its right to do.” - https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=9048026745300244
An Ontario judge ordered that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and TD Bank must produce records related to freezing the accounts of a Freedom Convoy protester. In a July 4 press release, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) announced that bank records pertaining to the RCMP freezing Freedom Convoy protester Evan Blackman’s accounts are to be released, according to a ruling by the Ontario Court of Justice. The freezing of Mr. Blackman’s bank accounts was an extreme overreach on the part of the police and the federal government,” lawyer Chris Fleury declared. “These records will hopefully reveal exactly how and why Mr. Blackman’s accounts frozen.” Blackman was arrested in 2022 during the Freedom Convoy. In October, his charges of mischief and obstructing police were dismissed due to lack of evidence. The crown has since appealed the dismissal, and Blackman will stand trial beginning on August 14. Blackman’s lawyers plan to use his bank records at the upcoming trial to expose the government overreach that took place in 2022. - https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/judge-orders-release-of-records-pertaining-to-freedom-convoy-protesters-frozen-bank-accounts
COVID protestor Chris Carbert has been granted bail pending his appeal after spending over two years in prison. On June 30, Alberta Court of Appeal Justice Jo-Anne Strekaf ordered the release of Chris Carbert pending his appeal of charges of mischief and weapons offenses stemming from the Coutts border blockade in 2022. Carbert’s appeal is expected to be heard in September. Carbert has spent over two years in prison, when he was charged with conspiracy to commit murder during the protest in Coutts. Later, he was acquitted of the conspiracy to commit murder charge but still found guilty of the lesser charges of unlawful possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and mischief over $5,000. Carbert was arrested alongside Anthony Olienick, Christopher Lysak and Jerry Morin, with the latter two pleading guilty to lesser charges to avoid trial. At the time, the “Coutts Four” were painted as dangerous terrorists and their arrest was used as justification for the invocation of the Emergencies Act by the Trudeau government. Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley ruled that Trudeau was “not justified” in invoking the Emergencies Act, a decision that the federal government is appealing. - https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/covid-mandates-protester-in-canada-released-on-bail-after-over-2-years-in-jail
Use of public funds:
Thorold, Ontario in the Regional Municipality of Niagara, is severing its ties with the Partners for Climate Protection Program (PCPP). After hearing from several delegates, all of whom supported the City leaving, councillors didn’t take long to decide, voting 7-1 in favour of a staff recommendation that Thorold leave the program. The Partners for Climate Protection program is administered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and ICLEI. Councillor Carmen DeRose said climate change is nothing new. “The climate has been changing for four and a half billion years,” he said. “It’s not going to stop. We’re trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist." He said any money spent by the City on climate change, is wasted money. The debate over the City remaining with the program has been contentious but Tuesday’s meeting was relatively calm however, Mayor Terry Ugulini had to remind members of the public on hand to maintain decorum when they broke into applause and cheers after delegates and councillors spoke in support of the staff recommendation. - https://www.thoroldtoday.ca/local-news/partnership-dissolved-thorold-pulls-out-of-climate-program-9107003
According to government polling, Albertans are largely opposed to their children viewing pornography in school libraries. In a June 20 press release, the Government of Alberta announced that their public engagement survey, launched after the discovery of sexually explicit books in school libraries, found that Albertans strongly support removing or limiting such content. The polling results come after the Conservative Alberta government under Premier Danielle Smith announced that they are going ahead with plans to eventually ban books with sexually explicit as well as pornographic material from all school libraries, on May 27.
In a June 16 op-ed published by the National Post, Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson revealed that U.K. citizen Harry Cayton will guide him through the mandatory training. “All they really want, it turns out, is one two-hour session, which will not involve any ‘social media’ training,” he further explained. “This will be conducted by a man — one Harry Cayton — a citizen of the U.K., who is neither social media expert, according to the College and is definitely not a psychologist.” Harry Cayton, a supposed expert on “professional regulation and governance,” is known professionally for promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Peterson has promised to make the details of his “re-education” public, questioning why the College wishes to hide what Cayton plans to discuss with him. He also explained that he will publicize the training “so that people who are interested can decide for themselves what is going on.”

Scientific Integrity:
July 1, 2025 will be remembered as a landmark moment in the fight for scientific transparency and medical freedom. After decades of embargoes, institutional gatekeeping, and the monetization of public knowledge, the National Institutes of Health —the world's largest public funder of biomedical research—has enacted a profound and long-overdue reform: Effective immediately, all NIH-funded research must be made publicly available upon publication. NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya captured the essence of this historic shift: "The American people should have immediate free access to the science that we so generously fund through the NIH. Starting today, we do." Sayer Ji, the founder of GreenMedInfo.com said: “This is not just an administrative update. It’s a massive victory for: Scientific transparency, Health freedom, Accountability to the public, and Truth-based inquiry. But let’s be clear—this doesn’t mean the system is fixed. We still need to fight for the inclusion of negative results, prevent new exploitative publisher fees, and ensure true equity of access, not just the illusion of it. Let’s not just celebrate the unlocking of science— Let’s reclaim it.” Sayer Ji has written a Substack unpacking why this moment matters, how we got here, and what comes next:
Flouride:
The Oklahoma State Department of Health has removed its recommendation that fluoride be added to public water systems, joining a growing number of states that have rolled back similar guidance. An executive order issued by Gov. Kevin Stitt said that there is “growing public concern, evolving scientific research, and fundamental principle of informed consent that call into question the continued appropriateness of mandatory fluoridation of the public drinking water system.” The order directs state health and environmental officials to “immediately cease any state-level promotion or endorsement of fluoridation of the public water supply.” By contrast, Calgary just turned on water fluoridation after halting it for 14 years. - https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/oklahoma-ends-recommendation-to-add-fluoride-to-water-5880197
Quote: “Most fluoride used in U.S. public water systems is not pharmaceutical-grade but rather industrial by products: Hydrofluorosilicic acid, sodium fluorosilicate, and sodium fluoride are the most common additives. These compounds are often recovered from phosphate fertilizer production. Instead of being treated as hazardous waste, these by products are purified and sold to municipalities for water fluoridation. Because these fluoride compounds are not allowed by the EPA to be dumped directly into the environment, selling them for water fluoridation has been seen by critics as a form of “waste repurposing.”
5G:
New cell towers and antennas on Hawaii’s Big Island must be at least 600 feet away from homes and schools, thanks to an ordinance residents recently passed. The ordinance is the first of its kind in the state, said Debra Greene, Ph.D., founding director of Safe Tech Hawaii. “It paves the way for other local jurisdictions in Hawaii to follow suit and implement similar ordinances,” Greene said. “Passage of this bill also adds momentum to the nationwide and global trend of regulating tower and antenna deployments.” Hawaii made news earlier this year when the state announced plans to become the “first fully fiber-enabled state” by 2026.
Carbon tax:
The EU Parliament voted 564–20 on May 22, 2025 to amend the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), exempting 90% of importers from the carbon tax. The European Green Deal, targeting climate neutrality by 2050, includes CBAM as a key tool, but the exemption reflects economic pressures, possibly linked to industrial struggles in Germany. Recent economic data shows 1.2 million German companies filed for bankruptcy in the last six months, highlighting the EU's industrial challenges that may have influenced the CBAM decision. - https://legal.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/eu-parliament-backs-carbon-border-tax-exemption/121339118
