Neil Young: The reason why there's so much anger, derision and division in the world is that we're up against something that we're not even looking at, and not talking about... Plus, more music!
Listen carefully what Canadian legendary musician is trying to say and what CBC program host does not seem to get... More music and my own feelings about all of that...
EDITED (17 Nov 2022)
Just yesterday, I’ve posted interview of a legendary Russian rock musician Boris Grebenshchikov on what he thinks about what is happening in Russia.
In the face of losing trust in mainstream media and not having enough trust in opposition sources either, the thoughts of musicians like Boris Grebenshchikov, who built trust of their fans through their entire life and who are well enough to be independent from government checks and punishments, remain possibly the most trusted sources of information for many of us about what happens in the world. Would you agree?
And so, what a coincidence (although I know nothing in this life is coincidence) it was this morning when I turned on CBC radio (you see, I still listen to it, and find it quite interesting and useful, especially if you listen carefully to what they say there and especially what that do not say) to hear the interview with another rock legend - Neil Young. There he also shared his thoughts on what is going on - here and the world - the thoughts that the CBC program host does not seem to get… or prefers to interpret in his own preset way…
Listen to this interview yourself and see what Neil Young is talking.
I felt he is talking exactly about the same things which prompted me to start publishing this newsletter - about the “things that we’re not even looking at”, about the things that “the world are not talking about” (talking only about climate change).
So, What are those “things” Neil is talking about, which are not “climate change” and which the world are not talking about??
Are these the same things that I am not allowed to talk too here?? (See my inaugural ‘Welcome to IVIM’ Newsletter)
Also listen to some more music: from him and from me…
In Neil Young own words:
“The reason why everybody is angry and the reason why there's so much derision and division in the world is that we know that we're up against something that we're not even looking at.”
“The world is more scared of climate change than they are of anything else but they are not talking about it. So, it comes out in everything else. ”

Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young returns to Q to talk about his latest album with Crazy Horse "World Record." He delves into his love and grief over the world around him…
Transcript:
CBC: what did you find yourself writing about ?
Neil Young: well when I started writing the main thing I feel is positive about if we all understand what we're up against and we can all see it at once that that's going to really help us. So that's the message in almost every song One Way or Another. I really feel that we're up against something huge, and the reason why everybody is angry and the reason why there's so much derision and division in the world is that we know that we're up against something that we're not even looking at.
CBC: “we know that we're up against something that we're not even looking at” - you're talking about [ the like the actual like I assume we're talking about] the climate here like ?…
Neil Young: Yeah we're talking about the world, and the climate of the world, and how everything has changed. But the thing is that the world is more scared of climate change than they are of anything else but they are not talking about it. So, it comes out in everything else.
CBC: Hold on man. Let me try to understand - “that the world is more afraid of climate change”. We are all “more afraid of climate change and and than anything else but we don't want to talk about it”
Neil Young: That seems to be the case. It seems like we're focused on left and right, you know, democracy versus whatever the other thing is, all these things that are happening in the world now in all the different countries everywhere, the division and everything is I think it's all fueled by this background feeling …
“Love Earth” - Song from Neil Young new album “World record”
PS. Something personal
I’m a big fan of both Boris Grebenshchikov and Neil Young - for the beauty of their songs and their authenticity. And, as some of you know, I also play guitar and write songs (in Russian and English) - about what I feel about this world. I’m not a professional musician though. I do other things, but cannot run away from my feelings, which sometimes get expressed in music. Here’s one of those - played by my mom in Kyiv, Ukraine twenty years ago and arranged by my friend from Kharkiv, Ukraine last year, when life was so different back then - there and here.
I did not phrase my thoughts well... Sorry about that - I've re-written them.
I hope now they are better expressed - what , I think, Neil Young, was really trying to say...
I clearly heard him putting emphasis on "everything else" that "the world are not talking about" and what is the reason for making the world "angry" and "divided".
It was the CBC program host who tried to re-shape Neil's words into what he / CBC/ the "world are talking about|, which is "climate change".
The world is most afraid of climate change and no one is talking about it?
I completely disagree. I feel like I hear about climate change fear being pushed from everywhere. BBC literally has a “climate change” news tab. From the polls I’ve heard - most ppl rank it 5th or lower in their most pressing issues. Inflation is usually no.1.
